If you are purchasing the RIVAL Aluminum Engine Skid Plate for your 4th Gen Toyota Tacoma that is not equipped with a welded front factory crossmember, this additional crossmember will be required for installation of our Skid Plate. Starting in 2026, lower-trim models began coming with the factory crossmember — we recommend checking under your particular vehicle first before ordering. We recommend checking under your vehicle before ordering. 2026 OEM Shield Fitment: Toyota has shifted the mounting holes by approximately 1/16 inch on some newer 2026 production batches of their OEM shields. As a result, you may need to enlarge the holes in your OEM shield to match our crossmember. Alternatively, consider our 1/4-inch aluminum armor which offers significantly better strength and protection. Tap Recommendation: It’s good practice to use a tap on all included hardware and bracketry, or run the bolts into the nut plates a few times before installation to ensure ease of final assembly. We use zinc flake coating on all fasteners, and there may be some residual coating left in the threads.
