The GSB2220 is a Securon seat mounted automatic lap belt, BS approved, and designed for use in both front and rear seating positions across a wide span of classic Land Rover models. Securon is a well established manufacturer of seat belts for British vehicles, and this automatic lap belt uses a retracting mechanism mounted at the seat rather than the body, making it a straightforward fit for the more spartan interiors found on these older Rovers. This belt is correctly specified for the Defender built from 1983 to 1998, the Discovery 1 from 1989 to 1994, all Range Rover Classic models up to 1986, and the Series 3. Replacing a tired, sun faded, or slow retracting lap belt with this Securon unit restores proper occupant restraint and keeps the vehicle running closer to its original safety specification, which matters both for daily use and for anyone maintaining a Rover to a correct period standard.
