Product Description Skid plates do their job by covering the parts underneath the vehicle, but that protection can create a new problem when it is time to service something behind them. A front driveshaft, fuel filter, drain plug, or other component can turn into a much bigger job when the entire skid plate has to come off just to gain access. The Motobilt MB2223 Universal Access Door gives builders a clean way to add a removable service opening wherever it is needed. This is the same style of access plate used in many Motobilt skid plate systems, now available separately for custom fabrication projects. One of the most useful applications is creating a front driveshaft access point in a custom skid plate. Instead of dropping the skid to reach driveshaft hardware, the access door can be positioned where you need it during fabrication. It can also be used to reach components such as the fuel filter on diesel Jeep applications or other service points that become difficult to access once armor, skid plates, or custom fabrication are installed. Built from 3/16-inch A36 steel, the MB2223 is a universal component rather than a vehicle-specific part. That gives the builder control over where it goes and what it provides access to.
